August 9 – They are probably the only club in the world with a fire engine manufacturer as a sponsor. Premier League battlers Huddersfield Town have signed a new partnership with Rosenbauer UK, a Yorkshire-based manufacturer of fire-fighting vehicles, appliances and equipment.
The club said the deal was made to boost awareness of fire safety and support Rosenbauer’s recruitment as it expands.
Oliver North, whose company merged with the Austrian business Rosenbauer, said of the club’s fans: “While we don’t expect many of them to be in the market for a fire truck, we’re delighted to align ourselves with our local, family-friendly club, which will extend our reach within the community and support our recruitment as we grow.
“Our philosophies are completely aligned, and as we look to humbly consolidate our growth, we’re proud to associate ourselves to our home-town through an avenue which most people can relate to.”
Rosenbauer branding will appear on the Terriers’ kits and walk-out jackets for the 2018/19 season.
Rosenbauer are not strangers in the publicity limelight. The company’s £700k ‘Panther’ airport fire truck doubled as one of the ‘robots in disguise’ in the film Transformers 3.
No figure was given for the sponsorship.
