July 5 – Sportswear challenger brand Castore have signed their second Premier League club in Newcastle United, taking the kit supply deal for the north east England club off Puma in a deal believed to worth at least £5 million a year.
The multi-year agreement will see Castore start with to 2021/22 season with the launch of new home, away, third and training kit ranges.
Castorewill take over the running the club’s e-commerce operations as well as modernise the club shop at St. James’ Park and open new retail outlets in the city centre. Key to the new merchandise operations will be an expanded range of product.
Castore, already have deals with Wolverhampton Wanderers as well as Scottish champions Rangers and says it expects to partner with five leading clubs across Europe for the 2022/2023 season.
The fledgling brand believes it can take on the established sportswear market via “its digital expertise and capabilities in technical engineering to create products that enhance player performance and increase club revenues from branded merchandise,” said a press release.
Tom Beahon, co-founder of Castore with his brother Phil, said: “Newcastle United has a huge and deeply passionate fan base, and we look forward to giving the ‘Toon Army’ something else to get excited about next season.
“We believe the partnership signals not only a new shirt for the new season but also a new start, a new better for this iconic club.”
Castore has grown rapidly having only been founded in 2015 with the tagline ‘Better never stops’. Backed by a consortium of investors, it now sells into over 90 countries worldwide.
