November 4 – Poland’s Culture and National Heritage Minister Bogdan Zdrojewski and Sports and Tourism Minister Adam Giersz today signed a cooperation agreement to promote the Euro 2012 through cultural measures.
The combination of sports and tourism with culture is a good idea for mutual promotion of these areas, Giersz claimed.
The two Ministries intend to tighten cooperation to mark the occasion of Chopin Year in 2010 but also in connection with Euro 2012, which is Poland is co-hosting with Ukraine.
Giersz said: ”We have a joint interests in developing our cooperation, promoting tourism through culture and vice versa.”
The agreement is also intended to improve the functioning of culture institutions servicing big organized groups visiting Poland.
Zdrojewski said: “There are institutions in Poland which have excellent guides, a long tradition, in servicing big groups, have good guidebooks.
“But they are still rare.”
