March 26 – Japan’s campaign to host the 2018 or 2022 World Cup today announced that they had signed up six new sponsors as official bid partners.
The companies are the Kinki Nippon Tourist, Kirin Holdings, Nippon Television, the TV Asahi Corporation, the Nisshin OlliO Group and the PIA Corporation.
It takes the total of Japanese companies sponsoring the bid to 12.
Financial support for the bid from Corporate Japan is particularly important because the Government is refusing to back the campaign financially.
Under the terms of their agreements, the companies have the right to use official bid mark in advertisements and sales promotion materials and the right to display its corporate name on official bid website and at related events.
A spokesman for Japan 2018-2022 said: The six companies will provide a range of support for the Bid Committee in its efforts to bring the 2018/2022 FIFA World Cup to Japan.
“As official bid partners, the companies fully understand the significance of Japan’s bid, and the Bid
Committee is hugely grateful for their support. .
“The Japan 2018/2022 Bid Committee hopes to recruit more official bid partners in the future to further strengthen its
bid.
“New bid partners will be announced as they sign up.”
