April 14 – Global food supplier Seara, part of the Marfrig Group, has signed up as a sponsor of the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cup, it was announced today.
The agreement, was signed by FIFA President, Sepp Blatter, and Marfrig Group chief executive, Marcos Antonio Molina dos Santos.
In addition to securing exposure for Seara and other Marfrig Group brands such as Moy Park, Paty and Pemmican at FIFA World Cups and FIFA Confederations Cup, the sponsorship agreement also includes rights for the general use of the FIFA official marks in advertising campaigns and product packaging for the Marfrig Group worldwide.
“Football is a great passion worldwide and the sport helps improve quality of life and bring people together,” said dos Santos.
“This is perfectly aligned with our communication strategy for the Seara brand, which offers healthy, delicious and high-quality food to consumers worldwide.”
Seara is also the official sponsor of Brazil’s national team and one of its most admired football clubs, Santos, whose star player is Robinho.
“We are proud to welcome the Marfrig Group and in particular Seara to join us in delivering the FIFA World Cup in 2010 and 2014,” Blatter said.
“Sponsorship support is especially pleasing when it comes from such a well-known brand that clearly demonstrates a commitment to football at both domestic and international levels.”
Seara’s agreement with FIFA, which begins in 2010 and runs until 2014, sees them become the last FIFA World Cup Sponsor for the 2010 World Cup South Africa and follow in the footsteps of Brazilian telecommunications company Oi, which recently signed up as the first Brazilian FIFA World Cup Sponsor for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil.
