February 23 – 13 tourist routes specifically for football fans in Kiev will be opened by the start of UEFA Euro 2012, according to the head of Kiev’s Tourism Agency, Mykola Hrytsyk.
According to Hrytsyk, foreign fans visiting Kiev will be able to use electronic guides and audio devices which work in any European language, and 10 tourist information centres will be set up across the Ukrainian capital.
150 hotels in Kiev as well as ships, hostels and camps will be available to fans looking for places to stay during the tournament.
Currently Kiev is 805 rooms short in meeting its accommodation requirements, but they plan to have built more than twice that number by the start of the tournament in June 2012.
Hrytsyk insisted that the tasks UEFA had set for Kiev to complete in time for the competition would be met.
“All the guarantees on UEFA team accommodation, given to UEFA President Michel Platini by Kyiv, will be fulfilled, including accommodation of UEFA target groups (teams, sponsors, UEFA partners and referees),” he said.
