Hilton plans new hotels for Russia 2018

March 15 – Nine hotels will be opened by Hilton Worldwide in Russia ahead of the 2018 World Cup, taking its total number of hotels in the country to 16, as it looks to expand its presence there.

The hotels will be built in Ornsk, Moscow, Astrakhan and Krasnodar.

The projects will add to those already underway across Russia including in Sochi, the location for the 2014 Winter Olympics.

Vice president of development in Europe and Africa for Hilton Worldwide, Patrick Fitzgibbon, said that Russia provided an excellent opportunity for the company to grow.

“Russia’s appointment as host for the 2018 World Cup provides further opportunities for expansion in a country that remains a key focus for our business growth,” he said.

“With forthcoming infrastructure improvements and much needed amendments to visa restrictions, we anticipate further increases in investment and sustained increases in visitor numbers to the country going forward.”

The new hotels will provide over 1,000 rooms serving thousands of visitors for the 2018 World Cup, and add to last autumn’s announcement of new hotels in Ornsk, Moscow and Yaroslav.
