April 26 – The purchase of debt ridden Swiss Super League club Neuchâtel Xamax by Chechen businessman Bulat Chagaev will go through on May 12.

Chagaev has been based in Geneva for several years, and runs two businesses, one of which is a financier of Russian Premier Division outfit Terek Grozny, the Chechen club which Ruud Gullit now manages.

Chagaev is known to be an avid football follower, and has promised to inject millions into the club, which was founded in 1906 but has not won the League since 1988, in a bid to attract new players.

The Chechen posted a video on Youtube, in which he says “he will do all he can so that the club can improve and play in the Champions League.”

Chagaev is a close friend of Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov, who is also the President of Terek.
