April 29 – Sky Sports has signed a deal to continue coverage of UEFA Champions League games until 2015.

Sky Sports will be broadcasting 129 live games from the competition each season as well as the UEFA Super Cup, which is held between the winners of the Champions League and the Europa League.

Sky Sports will be showing this year’s Champions League final, being held at Wembley on May 28, in High Definition on Sky HD.

Barney Francis, managing director of Sky Sports, said: “We introduced the exceptional quality of HD, then increased the number of live matches and have now pioneered 3D broadcasts.

“The UEFA Champions League goes from strength to strength and we look forward to extending our relationship with UEFA.

“Sky Sports offers the most comprehensive coverage of the UEFA Champions League.

“We will show up to 15 live matches a week, with a choice of live matches, and a full round up of all the week’s action on Wednesday nights.

“Our interactive service has been used for several seasons to offer a menu of live games; it has worked superbly and given viewers choice and real depth of coverage.”

Sky has both live rights and highlights, as well as cross platform rights for mobile and broadband use, with matches available to watch on the Sky Player or Sky Mobile TV.

Under the new agreement Sky viewers will be able to see all but one of the Tuesday night games during the Group stages, as well as every Wednesday match.

They will also see live coverage of one of the legs of each semi-final and shared coverage of the Champions League and Super Cup finals.
