June 7 – Edusport Travel has been appointed as the exclusive South African agent of MATCH hospitality, the rights holder of the FIFA hospitality programme, to sell the packages for the 2013 Confederations Cup and 2014 World Cup, taking place in Brazil.
The company was involved in coordinating travel logistics for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa last year, and is a key player in the country’s sports travel industry.
Global sales of the products will start in October.
Jamie Byrom of MATCH Hospitality said: “MATCH Hospitality is delighted to continue its successful association with Edusport for the 2014 World Cup.
“We are certain that Edusport’s expertise and networks represent the best option for MATCH Hospitality.”
Ed Hill, the managing director of Edusport Travel, said: “This is a really exciting and fantastic opportunity for Edusport Travel and the Imperial Holdings Group.
“Soccer is a major passion in South Africa, the excitement of going to a soccer crazy country like Brazil and experiencing the azure beaches of Copacabana and the iconic Maracana Stadium, will be an experience the South African football fan will not want to miss.
“With Brazil a popular destination for South Africans, we believe many South African companies will choose the 2014 World Cup as an ideal incentive opportunity.”
