June 10 – FIFA general secretary Jerome Valcke will be giving the keynote speech at the Inside World Football Moscow Forum in Russia later this month, it has been announced today.
The confirmation that Valcke, FIFA President Sepp Blatter’s right hand man, will be delivering the keynote is a significant coup for the Forum, which will also include a number of other high profile figures from Russian football and the 2018 World Cup organising committee, as well as other officials from the world of football and beyond.
The Frenchman will be addressing the Forum on Friday, June 24 at the start of an exciting day which will also feature an on-stage interview with Alexey Sorokin, chief executive of Russia’s World Cup Organising Committee, and a series of discussions on the challenges facing Russia in the build up to the 2018 tournament.
Valcke was an integral player in the successful planning and implementation of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, and has been a key figure at FIFA since being appointed general secretary of the organisation in 2008.
His career at world football’s governing body began in 2003 when he became the director of marketing and television.
Prior to joining FIFA, Valcke had worked as a journalist and head of sport for French television channel Canal+.
He then moved onto Sport+ and SportFive before leaving to take up his post at FIFA.
