June 17 – Winning next year’s European Championship in Poland and Ukraine could be worth up to €23.5 million (£20.7 million/$33.6 million)) if the eventual victors end up with a 100 per cent record in six straight games.
UEFA announced today they had fixed the total prize money for the 16 finalists at €196 million (£173 million/$280 million) compared to €184 million (£163 million/$263 million) for Euro 2008.
Each country will pocket €8 million (£7 million/$11.4 million) just for getting there regardless of how they perform, with €1 million (£884,000/$1.4 million) on offer for a win in the group stage and €500,000 (£442,000/$715,000) for a group stage draw.
Victory in the quarter-finals will be worth €2 million (£1.77 million/$2.8 million), a semi-final victory will add another €3 million (£2.6 million/$4.3 million), while the team winning the final will land a cool €7.5 million (£6.6 million/$10.7 million) and the runner-up €4.5 million (£4 million/$6.4 million)).

“This will act as an incentive if the top two qualifying places are already decided.” said a spokesman for FIFA.
UEFA’s Executive Committee also approved the date and location for the Euro 2012 play-off draw that will take place in Krakow, Poland, on October 13, 2011.
The procedure for the final draw was also approved and will take place at the Ukraine National Palace of Arts in Kyiv on December 2.
