September 2 – Branding experts Lambie-Nairn are to be honoured at the prestigious red dot design awards ceremony in Berlin later this year for the work they did on Qatar’s winning bid to host the 2022 World Cup.

Qatar stunned the world of football when they were awarded the right to host the tournament ahead of the United States and Australia last December.

Lambie-Nairn, who are currently working on the identity toolkit for UEFA Euro 2012, took the existing logo and built an identity around it to promote the Qatari bid, building on the “Expect Amazing” concept, which featured heavily in the campaign.

The branding agency used a range of illustrations and photographs to stand out and represent the vibrancy of the Gulf nation to put across the country’s passion for football.

The international company’s executive creative director Adrian Burton said, “It’s a great coup to win a red dot award and we’re thrilled that our work with the ambitious Qatar 2022 bid team has been awarded one of the highest honours the international design community can bestow”.

Lambie-Nairn will be presented with the red dot corporate design award at a special gala ceremony at the Konzerthaus Berlin on October 7.
