September 6 – Visa is extending its partnership with Soccer United Marketing (SUM) in a deal which will see them continue as the official payment services company of Major League Soccer (MLS), US Soccer and the Mexican national team’s US tour until 2014.
Visa cardholders will have priority access to match tickets and unique fan experiences during this period, while Visa will receive exclusive onsite promotional rights across MLS events, as well as Mexican and US national team games played in the States.
“The recent World Cup performance by the US men’s national team in South Africa and the women’s national team in Germany has helped increase consumer interest in soccer in the US,” said Alex Craddock, head of North America marketing for Visa.
“As the US men’s national team prepares for Brazil 2014, the renewed sponsorship agreement will help connect Visa and our clients to a passionate soccer fan base across the USA.”
President of SUM Kathy Carter added: “Visa has been a great worldwide supporter of the sport of soccer.
“We are thrilled to have Visa extend their domestic relationship with the beautiful game through the continuation of the partnership with MLS, US Soccer and the Mexican Football Federation.”
