November 2 – Orange has reaffirmed its commitment to African football with plans to take the mobile platform Football Fan Club to a number of new countries.

The mobile phone company has sponsored national teams including the Ivory Coast, Cameroon and Senegal among others for a number of years.

It is also the lead sponsor for the six competitions run by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), including the African Cup of Nations.

Orange launched the Football Fan Club in April and confirmed the continuation of their work to develop the programme after the African Cup of Nations 2012 draw in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea (the co-hosts of the competition with Gabon).

Football Fan Club provides services for supporters, including latest news, games and blogs from both African and European football.

Users can also win prizes and interact with other football fans across the continent using its chat facilities.

Over 300,000 customers across 12 countries have used the platform already and Orange confirmed that it will be rolled out to others by the end of the calendar year.
