December 21 – Japan is releasing a set of stamps to commemorate the country’s victory in the Women’s World Cup during the summer.
A victory on penalties after extra time in the final of the tournament, held in Germany, delivered Japan’s first ever women’s World Cup.
Japan Post Holdings company said that it will sell the stamps, commemorating “Nadeshiko Japan,” and will include six special postcards featuring pictures from the tournament.
The stamps will be on sale for 3980 yen ($51/€39) and sold on an on-demand only basis.
Orders are accepted from now until January 31 from postal offices across the country and the Japan Post Holdings company website.
The Japan defender Azusa Iwashimuzu described it as “an honour,” saying that she “wants to keep the stamps for commemoration.”
