January 28 – MATCH Hospitality has appointed Grupo Mundomex and Nevada Tours as co-exclusive sales agents in Mexico for the official FIFA hospitality programmes during the 2013 Confederations Cup and 2014 World Cup, being held in Brazil.
The companies will give Mexican customers the chance to enjoy the official hospitality packages, some of which include cruise ship accommodation.
Grupo Mundomex were the exclusive hospitality sales agent for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa as well, and have been involved in three Olympic Games.
MATCH Hospitality is the worldwide exclusive rights holder of the FIFA Hospitality Programme up to and including the 2022 and 2023 men’s and women’s World Cups.
The announcement was made at the headquarters of the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) in Mexico City, and MATCH executive chairman Jaime Byrom said: “It is with great pleasure that we announce the renewal of our partnership with Grupo Mundomex following our successful cooperation for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
“It is with equal pleasure that we welcome Nevada Tours as our new partner.
“The decision to appoint two exclusive sales agents for a single national territory is unprecedented for MATCH.
“This decision reflects the unique importance we place on Mexico as one of the teams expected to draw the largest number of fans to the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
“Our decision also acknowledges the different types of programmes our two partners will offer to their customers.”
Mundomex President Luis Quintero added: “We are delighted at the privilege of this appointment, which represents a very important opportunity for us.
“Our goal is to offer the perfect blend of exciting football action and leisure travel, allowing our clients to experience Brazil at its best thanks to a large array of top quality services and products.
“More than half of the host cities in Brazil are port cities or very close to the sea.
“Offering the possibility to travel on a cruise ship to the venues and matches will further enhance this once-in-a-lifetime experience.”
Nevada Tours was the Participating Tour Operator for the 2010 World Cup, and its President Hector Ruíz Velasco Verdín said: “Nevada Tours is honoured to be designated as a co-exclusive sales agent for MATCH Hospitality in respect of the sale of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Official Hospitality Programme.
“Customers can be assured of the support and experience of Nevada Tours, acquired through FIFA World Cups since 1994 and a large number of sporting events in which we have provided various services to different Mexican teams.”
