February 7 – Liverpool have extended a partnership with their official travel partner Thomas Cook Sport until 2015, as the club look to attract more overseas fans to Anfield.
Thomas Cook provides travel for supporters, as well as teams and officials, also offering match breaks, which include accommodation and a ticket, for supporters wanting to watch games at Anfield.
The deal will help Liverpool to grow their presence internationally as they look to capitalise on the club’s major overseas following.
Liverpool’s managing director Ian Ayre said: “Through the existing partnership with Thomas Cook Sport we have built an excellent relationship and I am delighted that we can announce the extension today.
“We look forward to working with Thomas Cook Sport over the next three seasons to support our mutual goals and ensure more fans can watch the team at home and abroad as we go from strength to strength both on and off the pitch.”
Thomas Cook’s managing director Danny Talbot added: “It’s fantastic news that we’ve extended our partnership with Liverpool Football Club until 2015.
“We’ve built a strong relationship with the club and fans over the last four years, and we look forward to expanding our successful partnership over the coming seasons.”
The Thomas Cook deal was just one of Liverpool’s commercial agreements reached last week, as they announced that they would be giving fans the chance to swap Tesco Clubcard points for Anfield tours.
They also agreed a deal with Thai car battery manufacturer 3K Battery, continuing the club’s venture into the Asian market, while giving the company the opportunity to use Liverpool’s logo in promotional campaigns.
