May 3 – The German Football Federation (DFB) has agreed a three year extension to its long-term partnership with Coca-Cola.
Coca-Cola have sponsored DFB since 1981 and will remain the exclusive soft drink supplier for Germany’s home internationals until 2014.
The company will also maintain an advertising presence at every game.
The original partnership with the DFB saw Coca-Cola set up their Fan Club Team in 2003, with 50,000 members enjoying benefits including exclusive offers, first refusal on tickets to national team games and discounts in DFB shops.
The agreement with Coca-Cola was reached a month after a deal was made with Continental to sponsor the German Cup.
The DFB also has partnerships with Lufthansa, Deutsche Post, Mercedes-Benz, Commerzbank, T-Mobile, REWE, Sony, Nivea for Men, Allianz, Bitburger and McDonald’s.
On the field, the DFB also recently announced that they would not be submitting a formal bid to host the European Championships in 2020.
Coca-Cola is one of the longest standing corporate partners of the FIFA World Cup, running stadium advertising since the 1950 competition in Brazil.
