UEFA announces Ultimate Champions Match line up

May 11 – The two teams who will take part in the Ultimate Champions Match during the UEFA Champions Festival in Munich next week have been revealed.

The game will be between the World All-Stars, coached by Ruud Gullit (pictured above), and a Bayern Munich All Star and Friends squad.

The match takes place at 12.00 CET at Munich’s Olympiastadion in Munich’s Olympiapark next Saturday (May 19).

Access to the game is free for spectators, who will get a chance to see some of football’s former greats.

Hours later at Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena, the German giants take on Chelsea in the Champions League final.

Former European Championship and European Cup winner Gullit will have countrymen Edwin van der Saar, Frank de Boer, Ronald de Boer and Giovanni van Bronckhorst in his team, captained by Brazilian double World Cup winner Cafu.

Cafu is joined by compatriot Zico (pictured above), a skilled passer and goalscorer, and one of the best players of all time who enjoyed a glorious playing career mainly with Flamengo, as well as scoring 52 goals for Brazil.

Also in the World All-Stars team is a former Bayern Munich star, Frenchman Willy Sagnol, as well as Italian Gianfranco Zola, former England left-back Graeme Le Saux and Nigerian Celestine Babayaro, who were at Chelsea at the same time as Gullit.

Other notable names featuring are former France World Cup winner Patrick Vieira, Predrag Mijatović, who played for Yugoslavia and Serbia and Montenegro and Croatian Davor Šuker.

The Bayern team will include UEFA Champions League ambassador Paul Breitner, who won the 1974 World Cup against the Netherlands at the Olympiastadion.

He is joined by a host of Bayern legends, including German duo Stefan Reuter (pictured below, right) and Thomas Helmer, Brazilian Élber Giovane and Karl-Heinz Riedle, another former World Cup winner.

They are coached by Wolfgang Dremmler, who was part of the Germany team which lost the 1982 World Cup final to Italy.

The game is being broadcast live by German broadcaster SAT 1, as well as on UEFA.com.

The UEFA Champions Festival runs until Saturday (May 12) this week, ending just before to the Champions League final.

A range of attractions, games and the opportunity to be photographed with the Champions League trophy are some of the enticements for those wishing to attend the free festival.
