June 1 – Brazil 2014 has launched its official slogan for the world cup – “all in one rhythm”.

The slogan is designed to unite fans around the world heading to Brazil for the World Cup, as well as representing the Samba nation’s “unique flavour”.

“The official slogan is the result of a joint effort between Brazil and the football world to find a unifying message that represents the unique feel that the country will offer the FIFA World Cup,” commented FIFA general secretary Jérôme Valcke in Brazil.

“Based on the central idea of the ‘rhythm’, it will join the fans in Brazil and abroad about what will be a vibrant and colourful celebration at a pace that is exclusively Brazilian.”

This was Valcke’s first trip to Brazil since causing an outcry regarding the country’s World Cup preparations and his “kick up the backside” comment, for which apologies have now been made and accepted.

Sports Minister Aldo Rebelo said that he hoped the slogan would unite the nation, which will have two major sporting extravaganzas in the next three years with the Olympics and Paralympics in 2016.

“The slogan is an invitation to all Brazilians come together and celebrate the immense sense of pride in the position that our country holds in the global scenario and our role as hosts of the FIFA World Cup 2014,” he said.

“It is also an invitation to all Brazilians and foreign visitors, so that throughout the tournament, they find and exploit the new rhythm of Brazil: the pace of unity and diversity, innovation, nature, football and Brazilian culture.”

Legendary former Brazil forward Ronaldo (pictured above), on the World Cup wining side in 1994 and 2002, and member of Brazil 2014, added: “Football is everything to the Brazilian people.

“That’s why it has such great potential to bring people together and be a positive influence.

“The pace of football is everywhere in Brazil, uniting people of all ages and all walks of life.”
