June 15 – Germany and Portugal became the latest countries sanctioned by UEFA over various misdemeanours at the 2012 European Championship.
The German Football Association (DFB) was docked €10,000 (£8,000/$13,000) after supporters threw football-shaped paper missiles at Portuguese players and let off a smoke bomb on Saturday (June 9) night despite being repeatedly warned to stop.
Authorities told German supporters several times during the Group B game in Lviv that their behaviour could result in their ejection or even an abandonment.
The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) was fined €5,000 (£4,000/$6,000) after some of its players came out late for the second half of the same game, delaying the kickoff in the process.
