August 17 – Pitch International has agreed an exclusive deal with the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) to organise and promote the national team’s friendly games for the next decade.
The deal starts in October and runs through to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
“It is a great honour for Pitch to enter into such a prestigious partnership with the CBF,” said Jonathan Rogers, managing director of Pitch International.
“We are extremely proud to count the CBF as a new long-term partner of Pitch and will work tirelessly to deliver on their goals and objectives.
“This partnership also demonstrates the continued expansion of the Pitch business and highlights our growing sponsorship rights and event management business.”
Brazil’s friendlies during the next two years will be particularly important since – aside from the 2013 Confederations Cup – the country has no competitive practice until the World Cup it is hosting in 2014.
Up to 20 friendlies have been arranged, with Pitch playing a key role in selecting opponents and venues.
The company will also take responsibility for broadcast, sponsorship, stadium signage, ticketing and commercial rights of these games.
CBF President José Maria Marin, also head of Brazil 2014, said: “The CBF are delighted that Pitch International will exclusively organise and commercialise the friendly matches of the Seleção, both in Brazil and outside of Brazil, until the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
“We have been impressed with their innovative ideas, enthusiasm and extensive network of international football and commercial contacts and look forward to a long and successful working relationship with them.”
Pitch International has a number of high-profile clients in world football, including FIFA, UEFA, several football federations and a number of big name clubs.
