September 22 – UEFA has appointed Kuoni as its official accommodation agency for the next European Championship in 2016.
Kuoni will offer its services to the teams participating at the event in France, as well as to match officials, commercial partners, the media, broadcasters, suppliers and staff involved in the tournament.
The organisation is represented in France by a network of agencies.
Kuoni also provided the service for the European Championship in Austria and Switzerland four years ago.
Jacques Lambert (pictured below, right), President of France 2016, said: “It is very important for the tournament that everyone feels at home in all the accommodation facilities provided.
“France is renowned worldwide for its high hospitality standard, and we are pleased to work with an organisation that is deeply rooted in our country and that has an excellent reputation in the international tourism sector.”
Stefan Egli (pictured above, left), Kuoni’s head of destination Europe, added: “Kuoni is proud to be part of such a prestigious event for the second time and we are looking forward to making our contribution to a successful UEFA Euro 2016.
“We are confident that we can prove our professionalism and knowledge to both the UEFA family and our future international customers by closely cooperating with the French accommodation market.”
The 2016 tournament will be the first to involve 24 teams, eight up on the 16 which competed at this summer’s event in Ukraine and Poland.
That will provide both greater opportunities and bigger challenges for Kuoni as they seek to cater for all those participating in the Euros.
Euro 2016 will be the third time that France will have hosted the tournament.
Matches will be staged in Bordeaux, Lens, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Toulouse, Saint-Etienne, Nice, Saint-Denis and Paris, which will host the final.
