September 28 – Real Madrid have tied up their existing kit supply deal with adidas until the end of the 2019-2020 season.
The Spanish league soccer champions confirmed the news in their annual financial report issued to club members.
Sources in Spain indicate that the extension of the adidas sponsorship will be worth around €32 million (£25.5 million/$41.4 million) a year, one of the most lucrative in world football.
The club also revealed that it had recorded increased revenues of €514 million (£410 million/$665 million) from its football activities – excluding transfers – in 2011/12, up seven per cent from the previous year.
But significantly, given UEFA’s Financial Fair Play Rules, its net debts still stand at €126 million (£100.5 million/$163 million), although that is down 26 per cent on last year.
However, profits are also down – by 23.3 per cent – having dropped back to €24.2 million (£19.3 million/$31.3 million).
Real have had a dodgy start on the field this campaign, two defeats from their opening seven league games leaving them seventh in the table, eight points behind bitter rivals Barcelona.
