November 14 – South African football is reeling from the deaths of four players killed in a car accident in the same region where national team assistant coach Thomas Madigage lost his life in another crash last month.
The players, all from first division Polokwane City, one division below the Premier Soccer League (PSL), died while returning from a game against Atlie FC late Sunday (November 11) afternoon in the northern province of Limpopo.
A bus carrying around 25 members of the team crashed into a bus of Zimbabwean churchgoers between the northern city of Polokwane and the town of Mankweng.
All scheduled league games for this coming weekend have been suspended as a mark of respect.
“This country has been robbed of stars,” said PSL chairman Irvin Khoza.
