November 16 – Sport has once again become an unwitting victim of military activity after Israel called off two Premier League fixtures set for tomorrow due to the ongoing offensive in the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli Football Association says the situation is too dangerous for the Hapoel Beersheba-Hapoel Ramat Gan and Ashdod SC-Hapoel Acre matches to go ahead.

Police and the military have barred large gatherings in the area because of fears of rocket strikes by Palestinian forces.

The Israeli FA said the rest of the weekend league programme, thought to be largely out of range of the rockets, would go ahead as planned.

Lower league and junior fixtures in the south of the country were also cancelled.
