February 7 – If confirmation were needed that India’s football is intent on raising its profile, then the New Delhi conference ‘Goal 2013 India Football’, 14-15 February , will likely provide it.
The convention organised by FICCI in association with the All India Football Federation (AIFF) aims to initiate “an exclusive platform for strategic interaction among stakeholders.”
The objectives of this initiative include dialogue and networking among senior decision makers in Indian and international football community, knowledge sharing and understanding the business opportunities in Indian football and discussion and consensus building on issues, challenges and the way forward on contemporary issues in sports.
Kushal Das, General Secretary of AIFF said: “With a strong focus on youth development and considering FIFA’s encouragement and support relating to our efforts to host the U-17 World cup in 2017, I’m excited about the prospect of football development in the country.
“In recent months we have put together a master plan, “Lakshya” with the help of our technical director and we are in the process of creating a long term strategic plan which I think will go a long way in taking Indian football to the next level.”
Aloke Malik, Chairman, FICCI Sports Committee and MD of ESPN STAR Sports India said: “I have for a long time believed that we have the ability and firepower at Indian Football to do extremely well on the field. With the Indian economy growing steadily and young India embracing the sport like never before, football is poised to become ‘THE Game’ of India
Representatives of FIFA and the AFC, the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, the Sports Authority of India, AIFF and State Football Associations, international leagues, clubs, academies, brands, agencies, players coaches, NGOs and academic institutions are all expected to attend the convention.
