March 28 – Rob Faulkner, former head of media relations and corporate PR at UEFA, has landed a job round the corner from his previous employers.
Faulkner, who was primarily responsible for international media relations function at UEFA for the best part of 12 years, has joined the Leidar consultancy in Nyon, Switzerland, to help strengthen the corporate communications team and build a sports profile.
An Englishman with multi-lingual skills, Faulkner worked across all major competitions at UEFA but left the organisation as part a communications shake-up, rumoured to have been driven in part by UEFA President Michel Platini.
“I am looking forward to using my experience in the sports world together with my international network of media contacts to assist organisations and brands in their communications work,” said Faulkner, who started his career in sports sponsorship, of his new role at Leidar.
“Leidar’s size and structure means we can react quickly, creatively and cost-effectively to a client’s brief and having spent many years client-side I know just how important this is.”
Leidar’s Norwegian CEO, Rolf Olsen, added: “Being based in Switzerland, home to numerous sports federations and increasingly European headquarters to major global corporations, this is a great opportunity for Leidar. With Rob’s network of media contacts and pedigree in sport we can now offer an increased level of strategic advice and insight to our clients.”
