June 5 – Qatar National Bank has agreed a three-year extension of its sponsorship deal with Paris Saint-Germain from next season, further strengthening the French champions’ new-found status as one of Europe’s richest and biggest-spending clubs.
The agreement includes branding space on PSG’s shirts, advertising at the Parc des Princes Stadium while QNB’s logo will appear on the back of all the club’s Ligue 1 match tickets.
QNB has partnered PSG – who reached the Champions League quarter finals and is owned by Qatar Sports Investment – for the past two seasons in a bid to gain stronger brand recognition in the international market.
“The partnership with Paris Saint-Germain is another way for QNB to continue to move forward by developing new assets and expanding its sphere of influence,” the company said. “By making a positive difference in the communities that it serves and positively influencing economic development in its neighbouring countries as well as the ones it operates in, QNB is well positioned to be a leading financial powerhouse.”
The QNB deal comes after PSG last month agreed a five-year extension to its shirt sponsorship partnership with Emirates. The Dubai-based airline’s new agreement will run through to the end of the 2018-19 season and is reportedly worth a basic Eur20 million per season, rising to Eur25 million depending on sporting results.
