June 27 – The Fans All Star Global Vote (FAS) had its official launch today in London, with former England player and manager Glenn Hoddle and former Argentina captain and world cup winner Ossie Ardiles weighing into the debate on who the best players in Europe and the Rest of the World are.

FAS invites fans globally to pick who they believe are the best players in Europe and the Rest of the World.

Fans select their starting eleven plus four subs for each team from a list of 1,100 players. Teams are picked in a 4-4-2 formation. The first round of voting goes to July 1 when the list will be reduced to 660 players based on the fans’ votes and trimmed again August 1 to the final 110 players.

Fans have a chance to win £50,000 by matching the squads chosen by Hoddle and Ardiles. If more than one entrant

To select a team and enter the competition is free for the first squad selections. Fans can select as many times as they like, but subsequent selections cost $1 (69p).

As previously reported in Insideworldfootball, the concept is the brainchild of Chris Akers, former chairman of Leeds United and chairman of AIM-listed Concha plc.

The objective is to build the proposition out to eventually also include a Europe vs Rest of the World game played between the players who come top of the public vote. Akers has done the groundwork with football’s governing bodies and clubs to eventually make this happen.

But the first step is to get engagement in the concept and drive the voting through the website and social media activity. Fans can vote for their teams at www.fansallstar.com or download the app from the iTunes store.
