October 21 – A four-day FIFA Development Seminar in Grand Cayman was kicked off by FIFA President Joseph Blatter, CONCACAF President and FIFA Vice-President Jeffrey Webb and FIFA Secretary General Jérôme Valcke in Grand Cayman yesterday.
The meetings are designed to update the CONCACAF federations on FIFA statutes and governance procedures as well as encourage best practice and explain the support available to the confederations 41 federations.
The seminar, taking place at the same time as the CONCACAF Sports Summit, is part of FIFA’s general strategy of updating all six of its confederations with similar programmes. “The development of football around the world and at all levels is the primary mission entrusted to FIFA by its member associations,” said Blatter.
“When I started at FIFA, I was the first development officer, and I still am. I have witnessed how football can change lives and am very pleased to see how our development programmes have expanded over the years.”
