Fergie book gets football’s twitterati tweeting

Ferguson book

By Tom Parsons
October 25 – The eagerly awaited launch of Sir Alex Ferguson’s autobiography generated the inevitable twitter backlash to accompany some of the more controversial talking points.

Response to Sir Alex saying Gerrard isn’t a “top, top” player

@Joey7Barton (Joey Barton) “Fergie obviously as good at judging players as he is at putting cones out. Steven Gerrard not a top, top player?”

Response to Wayne Rooney’s transfer request

@PiersMorgan (PiersMorgan) “Hey @WayneRooney – if you’re so keen to play with @MesutOzil1088 then you know what to do in January…. #FergieBook

@JohnCrossMirror (John Cross) “Wayne Rooney told Sir Alex Ferguson to buy Mesut Ozil in 2010. “Mind your own business”

@PiersMorgan (PiersMorgan) “Be so amusing if Fergie’s book revelations force Rooney out, just when Moyes needs him most. Football loyalty eh..bloody hell! #SAF

Response to Ferguson’s approach for the England job

@MihirBose (Mihir Bose) Sir Alex Ferguson’s book will be a very interesting read, he confirms he was offered the England job twice in 1999 and 2001

Response to Ferguson’s angry words about Roy Keane

@StanCollymore (Stan Collymore) Now that neither are managers, a TV company should offer megabucks to get Fergie and Keane on the same show. I’d pay to watch it.

@JamesHorncastle: (James Horncastle) “The hardest part of Roy’s body is his tongue,’ writes Fergie. Quite the image”

General Response to the book:

@Arsenal (Arsenal football club) ‘Wenger:”I will read Ferguson’s book, at the moment I am a bit busy”

@andy_murray (Andy Murray) “haven’t read a book for a few years but surely fergies autobiography is a must read!”

@oliverkaytimes (Oliver Kay) “People who won’t like Ferguson’s book: David Beckham, Roy Keane, Rafa Benitez, Van Nistelrooy. Wayne Rooney might feel he got off lightly”

@nedzelic (Ned Zelic) ” Poor form from Ferguson. Should be enjoying retirement after a magnificent career instead of writing garbage like that.”

@flashboy (Tom Phillips) “Surprised the Alex Ferguson book embargo expired at 2pm on the dot. I expected it to be given at least five extra minutes.”

@migueldelaney (Miguel Delaney) “The book is surprisingly mild, except on chapters on Keane, Van Nistelrooy and Beckham.”
