December 3 – Match-fixing has again hit Estonia as illegal gambling dens continue to spread their criminal activities.

Back in May FIFA extended worldwide a raft of bans imposed on eight players by the Estonian FA and one player by the Lebanese FA following match-fixing and fraud inquiries.

The eight Estonians each received a one-year ban from all football-related activities while the Lebanese player was banned from all football-related activities for life.
Now, 11 men have been charged on suspicion of fixing 17 games, including three Europa League matches.

Also under suspicion are 12 Estonian top-flight matches, one Estonian cup and one Lithuanian game.

An Estonian public prosecutor’s office statement said the 11 approached footballers in Estonia, Lithuania and Ukraine were prepared to fix games. The matches are thought to have been between June 2011 and November 2012.

The accused are alleged to have made $160,000 from the scam.
