Schalke 04 extends sponsorship deal with Bet-at-home

December 23 – Schalke 04 has extended its sponsorship deal with betting operator Bet-at-home until 30 June 2016.

Michael Gierke, marketing director at Bet-at-home, said that Schalke 04 is one of the biggest football clubs in Germany, and thus a very attractive partner for the betting operator. Both sides are benefiting from the cooperation which creates a range of synergies in various fields, Gierke said.

The amount of the latest deal was not disclosed by the German club.

Under the sponsorship agreement, Bet-at-home’s ads will be featured on LED boards and sponsor boards featured in the media zone of the club’s Veltins Arena, Schalke 04 said. In addition to this, the contract also foresees a special online betting section dedicated to Bet-at-home on Schalke’s website. The operator has been the club’s partner since 2012.

Alexander Jobst, chief marketing officer of Schalke 04, was quoted as saying that the club was happy to extend its partnership deal which contributes to a successful marketing strategy.

Based in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, and set up in 1904, Schalke plays in the Bundesliga. The club won the German championship in 1934, 1935, 1937, 1939, 1940, 1942 and 1958, the German Supercup in 2011, and the UEFA Cup in 1997. Schalke’s Veltins Arena was opened in 2001 and has a capacity of 61,973.
