January 3 – The UAE Pro League Committee has renewed its sponsorship with the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank. ADIB will be its exclusive and official bank of the league and UAW Pro League’s other competitions.
The deal will allow the bank to offer a range of promotions and products and extends the relationship the bank has with the league – it has been a UAE Pro League sponsor since 2010 and has run a number of community initiatives and marketing programmes.
ADIB will launch a new football club payment and loyalty card product for fans. The card will carry the club’s name on and users will support football through the card’s usage. The card which will be an internationally covered card (and a Shari’a compliant alternative to a credit card) will provide users with a range of football related benefits and privileges.
Colin Smith, CEO of the Pro League Committee, said: “We are delighted to see ADIB’s renewed commitment to the League and its competitions as they have been very active in their support of football in the UAE over the past few years. We look forward to continuing this fruitful partnership and working together on a number of exciting offers and initiatives for the remainder of this season and future seasons to come.”
ADIB will present the Best Under-21 Player of the Season Award.
“At ADIB, we are committed to building partnerships with key organisations that are important to our customers and their interests,” said Hassan Al Nuwais, the company’s marketing manager.
“Our sponsorship of the Arabian Gulf League not only demonstrates our continued support for the popular game, but it reflects our desire to contribute to uniting people through the positive values of football.”
The Pro League committee represents the UAE’s 14 professional football teams and runs the Arabian Gulf League, UAE League Cup, Arabian Gulf Super Cup and the Reserve League.
