April 8 – Supponor, the digital replacement advertising board specialists, have appointed Roger Hall as the company’s CEO, taking over from Chris Buckley who will become a non-executive board director and will continue in a consultancy role.

Hall, who is currently the Managing Director of beIN Sports and was previously with Setanta Sports, will lead the company in the next stage of its global expansion plan.

Supponor recently extended its deal with La Liga via sports advertising agency Umedia. Supponor also works with England’s Football Association for England internationals at Wembley and Italy’s Serie A.

Matthew Wheeler, Chairman of Supponor said: “I am delighted to welcome Roger as CEO. His talents, experiences and knowledge make him perfectly skilled to take the company forward. DBRLive is changing the face of sports marketing in major sports broadcasts and Roger’s proven qualities as a leader and an international business builder are ideal for managing the roll out around the world.”

Hall will join Supponor at the start of May and will be based in London. The company’s research and development team, which will also be managed by Hall, is based in Espoo, Finland where DBRLive was invented.

“Supponor is a unique and exciting opportunity to revolutionise the way brands interact with live sport. I’m delighted to be joining the Supponor team to lead the next phase of development as we become an international media business operating at the heart of the world’s most important sports properties,” said Hall.

The DBRLive technology works by replacing existing perimeter systems (such as LED) with specially manufactured billboards which appear normal to fans in the stadium itself, but can be replaced with digitally-generated graphics on the broadcast feed. Optics within the broadcast camera are combined with Supponor’s software to identify the physical properties of the billboards and integrate virtual billboard content into live TV feeds.

Identical multiple live feeds can be generated but with different billboard graphics in any electronic media form – including animation and video – specifically tailored to the market that is watching the broadcast.
