May 8 – The FIFA/CIES sports management programme has expanded its footprint into the Middle East with the announcement of an official partnership with the Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi (PSUAD). The university will be the academic partner of the International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES).
This programme was first created in 2004 and so far more than 2000 students from different professional backgrounds have passed through its doors. The course introduces to the basic tools of sport management, including modules on law, management, communication, sport event management, marketing, sponsorship and finance.
The students also have the opportunity to attend conferences given by international experts and current sports leaders.
The first student intake for the programme is now open for registration with classes scheduled to start in September 2014. The course is open not only for students from the United Arab Emirates, but also for participants from Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
Organised in the United Arab Emirates, the Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) has played an essential role in implementing this project..
The programme is currently organised in 15 countries – Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Egypt, Lebanon, Palestine, Peru, Poland, Senegal, South Africa, Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, the United Arab Emirates and Venezuela – and is applicable across all sports, thought the focus is on football.
