Brazil v Germany: World Cup semi-final preview and match stats

Brazil 2014 logo

July 8 – The first of two Europe vs South America giant clashes. In 20 meetings Brazil have won 12 times and Germany just four times. But Germany may not come across a better time to meet a Brazil team without their inspirational goalscorer Neymar out, and with their dominant captain Thaigo Silva suspended. Bring it on!

Brazil have lost none of their last 6 semi-final matches, winning 5 and going through on penalties in the other.

Germany are the first country to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup in 4 in a row.

The only other meeting between these sides at the World Cup was in the 2002 final when Brazil won, with Ronaldo scoring both goals.

Germany won the last meeting between the two sided 3-2 with the goals scored by Bastian Schweinsteiger, Andre Schurrle, Mario Gotze, Neymar and Robinho.

Thiago Silva will miss the semi-final through suspension and Neymar (who will miss the rest of the World Cup)through injury. Germany are missing Shkodran Mustafi through injury.
