July 10 – Slask Wroclaw is poised to sign a new technical sponsorship contract with Adidas, replacing German rivals Puma which has been the Polish club’s kit sponsor since the 2009/2010 season.
The deal will increase the Polish portfolio of Adidas which, in the 2013/2014 season, supplied its gear to seven Ekstraklasa sides. These included this year’s champion of Poland Legia Warsaw, Ruch Chorzow, Wisla Krakow, Piast Gliwice, Gornik Zabrze, Korona Kielce and Lechia Gdansk.
The Adidias deal follows fast behind another sponsorship contract recently signed by the Wroclaw-based club. In the 2014/2015 season, Polish beer brand Tyskie will be replaced by rival brand Piast at Slask’s stadium. Tyskie is manufactured by local brewer Kompania Piwowarska which is a subsidiary of SABMiller.
A switch to Adidas means Puma loses its last technical sponsorship in the Polish top tier.
In June, Lech Poznan announced the signing of a new deal with Nike for the 2014/2015 season.
Last season the US firm was the apparel partner of three other Polish sides which compete in the country’s top league. These included Pogon Szczecin, Zaglebie Lubin and Cracovia Krakow. However, the latter club will switch to Italian brand Legea for the upcoming season, while Zaglebie was relegated to the I Liga.
