August 1 – Barcelona defender Gerard Pique says Luis Suarez will be more motivated than ever when he completes his four-month ban for biting at the World Cup.
The Uruguay striker was also slapped with a nine-match international suspension for his assault on Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini and has since been sold to Barca by Liverpool.
Suarez could make his debut in El Clasico against Real Madrid at the end of October and Pique said: “I expect that he, like anybody who has the possibility of doing their work taken away from them, will be feeling rage.”
“For the time being he has to wait. When he returns he will be full of desire to show that he is one of the best forwards on the planet.”
Suarez will join Argentina captain Lionel Messi and Brazil forward Neymar in a breathtaking attack as Barca seek to bounce back from a poor season by their own high standards when they failed to win major silverware for the first time in six years.
