September 10 – Czech football side FK Usti nad Labem has reopened its revampled stadium which was modernised at a cost of CZK 168 million (€6 million). As part of the redevelopment, a new stand was added with a seating capacity of 4,000.
The club currently plays in the Czech 2. Liga, the second tier of the country’s professional football league. The overhauled stadium is part of the club’s plan to join the Czech top tier, the Synot Liga.
In the 2011-2012 season of the 2. Liga, Usti nad Labem won promotion to the top tier, but then had to drop back down because its stadium failed to meet Czech Football Association (FACR) requirements to play in that league.
In addition to the new stand, the Czech facility was fitted with new ticket points, lighting, scoreboard, as well as security fences.
The project in Usti nad Labem was launched in March 2013 and completed by local construction company Metall Quatro. It is the first major overhaul of the stadium in Usti nad Labem since 1927.
FK Usti nad Labem was set up in 1945 and is based in the north-west of the country.
