September 11 – The race is hotting up in the Caribbean for qualifying places at the CFU Caribbean Cup finals in Jamaica this November. The finals will not only crown the Caribbean champions but will also provide the region’s qualifiers for the CONCACAF 2015 Gold Cup and the 2016 Copa America Centennario, both to be played in the US.
At the end of the first round of group matches, group winners Antigua & Barbuda, Martinique, Curacao and St. Kitts & Nevis, along with group runners up St. Vincent & The Grenadines, French Guiana, Barbados and St.Lucia, qualified for the second round of group play. The Dominican Republic qualified as the best third-placed team.
The second round of group games will played during the next international fixtures window in October.
Three groups will play in Trinidad & Tobago, Haiti and Guadeloupe, with the winners and runners up from each group progressing to the Jamaica finals. Jamaica have already qualified as hosts and Cuba have qualified as reigning champions.
From the eight team finals in Jamaica, four CFU member teams automatically qualify for a places in the 2015 CONCACAF Men’s Gold Cup – the top two teams from each
group in the Final Phase. Additionally, the fifth ranked CFU team will play the fifth ranked team from the UNCAF Copa Centro Americano in a home and away playoff for a place in the 2015 Gold Cup
The winner of the CFU Caribbean Cup gets an automatic berth to the Copa América Centenario in 2016.
