Welsh charged over Andorra pitch invasion

Bale calms crowd

September 12 – UEFA has charged the Football Association of Wales (FAW) for a pitch invasion following their late winner in this week’s 2-1 win in Andorra.

The Andorran Football Federation also faces action for incurring five or more cards and insufficient organisation inside the Estadi Nacional.

A decision will be made on both cases on October 16.

Crowd problems broke out following the 81st-minute winner from Gareth Bale that saved Welsh blushes as they came from behind after Ildefons Lima scored a penalty, Andorra’s first goal in a competitive fixture since 2010.

The artificial pitch at Andorra’s new national stadium had only been deemed suitable for the 2016 qualifier six days earlier.
