September 24 – The City of Moscow’s Chief Architect, Sergey Kuznetsov (pictured) will share his experience of working in the Russian market and the major sporting projects he has been involved in at the World Football Forum, November 13.
Kuznetsov was one of the founding partners and is the general director of the architectural practice SLK-Project. In 2006, they joined SPEECH Tchoban & Kuznetsov and until 2012 Kuznetsov was the managing partner.
As Moscow’s chief architect, Kuznetsov is responsible for the functions of the Committee on the implementation of state policy in supporting the development of Moscow in terms of urban planning. In this role, he is heavily involved in the development of Moscow as a host city of the FIFA World Cup 2018.
Among his firms completed projects are the Palace of Water Sports in Kazan and the Museum of Architectural Drawings in Berlin.
In Moscow, builders have begun work on the Luzhniki stadium, which will host the 2018 final. First step has been the creation of a concrete frame for the stadium, starting with the walls and the columns on the first floor in the east sector. Currently, there are 800 people working around the clock on the site.
The frame is scheduled to be completed in 2015, while reconstruction of the whole Luzhniki stadium is targeted to finish in the second quarter of 2017.
The 81,000 capacity stadium will have six floors including as a tier with 100 skyboxes, places for the disabled and VIP and VVIP zones. The space under the stands will double up to include warm up rooms, food outlets, a fitness centre, office rooms and media facilities.
The arena will become a multi-sports complex after the reconstruction as well as being able to host mass cultural and entertainment events.
