Mutko to open World Football Forum in Moscow

October 30 – Russian sports minister Vitaly Mutko will give the welcome address to World Football Forum gathering in Moscow, November 13. Organiser have now released their programme for the event which ends with a VIP reception at the Inter-Continental Hotel.

Mutko will be flanked by FIFA’s director of communication and public affairs Walter de Gregorio who will later in the day participate in a panel titled From Brazil to Russia – Challenges and Opportunities in hosting a FIFA World Cup.

Alexey Sorokin, CEO of the Russia 2018 Local Organising Committee will also be on the panel, as will Ricardo Trade who held the same position for the Brazil 2014 World Cup. The Brazilians will also make a presententation titled Stadium guidance from Brazil.

With Russian infrastructure build now in full flow for 2018, one of the core panels of the day will be 2018 World Cup stadiums – at the heart of the tournament. The panel features a number of stadium chiefs and will look at progress of the build to date, design, operations and legacy.

Other panels include a look at Stadiums and events of the future from a security perspective, as well as an examination of the impact European financial fair play rules, including a case study on the Russian Premier League.

One intriguing session at the end of day is titled What football can learn from other sports events organisers and promises to look at the ‘American way of sport event promotion’.
