November 21 – Czech businessman Miroslav Pelta has said he plans to hand over control of top tier club FK Baumit Jablonec, in which he holds a 80% stake, to a new investor. The sale could also solve a potential conflict of interest for the Pelta, who is also the president of the Czech football association FACR.
Pelta says that the talks could be finalised shortly. “I’m in the final phase of transferring shares. But it is not simply about transferring stock to someone else. The club needs real investors which have the necessary funds.”
“The involved people are known in the circles of sport and business. One of them was involved in football. I would like them to become the new investors,” said Pelta.
In addition to Pelta’s 80% stake in the side, the remaining 20% of the shares in Baumit are owned by a local association. The amount of the potential deal was not disclosed by Pelta.
Baumit Jablonec competes in the Synot Liga, the top tier of the Czech professional football league, where it currently lies third in the 16-club division, preceded by rival sides Viktoria Plzen and Sparta Prague, respectively.
The club’s Chance Arena in Jablonec has a capacity of just 6,280.
