December 5 – In a bid to boost its position in the European football market, French sports apparel maker Le Coq Sportif is reportedly planning to become the kit supplier of French club AS Saint-Etienne and Italy’s ACF Fiorentina.

“Football is part of our brand’s DNA. We have worked with 30 French sides in our history and experienced great success. I can confirm that the 2015/2016 season will mark the return of Le Coq Sportif to football with two European clubs, including one which plays in the Ligue 1. In a sign of respect to the clubs and their current kit suppliers, we do not want to provide more information on the involved squads,” Jean-Philippe Sionneau, responsible for the brand’s communication in the French market, told footmercato.net.

In Italy, Le Coq Sportif is reportedly to replace Spanish brand Joma, which became Fiorentina’s kit supplier in 2012, as the technical sponsor of the Serie A side. The French firm’s first Fiorentina kit would be unveiled in the 2015/2016 season.

Also in France, Le Coq Sportif is expected to replace Adidas as the technical sponsor of AS Saint-Etienne in the 2015/2016 season. The French brand served as the Ligue 1 club’s kit supplier in the 1970s.
