December 23 – FC Hradec Kralove has unveiled plans to spend CZK 246 million (€9m) on modernising its stadium. The Czech club aims to launch the upgrade of the sports facility in 2016.
Following a recent vote by the municipal council, the club has secured publicfunding from the city of Hradec Kralove.
FC Hradec Kralove currently competes in the Synot Liga, the top tier of the Czech Republic’s professional football league.
The latest announcement comes as the side is struggling to avoid relegation following the 2014/2015 season after just one season spent in the Czech top tier. The team is currently ranked 16th out of the 16 sides competing in the Synot Liga, with only 11 points, preceded by rival clubs Slovan Liberec and Zbrojovka Brno, which have 15 and 16 points, respectively.
Should Hradec Kralove be relegated to the second tier in the 2015/2016 season, the project to upgrade its stadium could be scrapped, as the facility complies with the requirements for clubs competing in the Fotbalova narodni liga, according to local daily Mlada fronta DNES.
The side’s Vsesportovni stadion has a capacity of 7,100.
