December 30 – The Supporters Trust of Bulgarian club Levski, ‘Blue Bulgaria’, has called for their representative on the club’s Board to be appointed as CEO. The demand has not been dismissed by Levski owner Todor Batkov but early indications are that he will not make a management change.
The current CEO at Levski is Konstantin Bazhdekov, who is also the chief financial officer of the club. Blue Bulgaria want their representatives to have the same powers as those of Bazhdekov.
Two weeks ago, at the General Assembly of Levski, the trust gained a seat on the Governing Board of the club. Batkov promised that the club would transfer 15% of its shares to the fans if they can provide annual funding of BGN 1 million ($621,000).
“We will ask in the most official way, our trust to be an executive member of the board of Levski together with Konstantin Bazhdekov. Currently Batkov is not ready for that. If we got the post of Executive Director, no one document will pass without a signature of our representative,” said the chairman of the Blue Bulgaria Vasil Kolev (pictured).
The fan group believes that this is the only way that it can become real participants in the management of the club.
Whether the request of fans will be met will be revealed on January 5 at the first meeting of the new board.
